OSMU is the only university of Ukraine, which is a member of MEDINE (Medical EDucation IN Europe). The Thematic Network on MEDINE addresses educational, institutional and quality issues in European medical education within the framework of European initiatives. This project is being carried out with the support of the European Community.
Odessa State Medical University is the first university of Ukraine which started medical education in English medium in 1996. In 2005, OSMU was awarded with a medal for the development of modern model for teaching the English speaking students by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Only university of Ukraine which provides post-graduation courses in English medium.
Odessa State Medical University is one of the largest higher medical universities, a member of European and International Association of Universities, the leader of reformation of medical education in the country. Odessa State Medical University is an higher education institution of the IV (the top level) accreditation level conferred by the State Accreditation Committee of Ukraine (Record No. 12 of June 30, 1994). The University trains specialists of the following qualification levels: Junior Specialist, Specialist, Master (Foreign students included) for the following specialties:

Odessa State Medical University   was established in 1900. This university is a member of the European Universities Union and is the biggest Medical University in the Ukraine.

History

 1 September 1900, a significant event that left its mark in the history of medical education in Ukraine and for many years identified her perspective, was the opening of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Novorossiysk.
Faculty had bright prospects because great world-renowned scientists worked in it. Before the opening of the department was completed, major buildings and clinics were constructed with the latest construction and architecture. Admittedly this was the most prestigious faculty and medical establishment of the time.
However, this good start was suspended because of Russia’s war with Japan, the revolutionary events of 1905-1907 years, the first world war 1914-1918 years, the October Revolution of 1917 and the civil war. After the elapse time and the destruction of the old system of higher education, new foundations began to be make its ascent. The positive things that were founded in the pre-revolutionary times, soon began to bear fruit.

University Today
 Today the Odessa National Medical University remains one of the leading medical universities in Ukraine. It is a member of the International Association of Medical Universities and the high standards of training at the institution is well recognized throughout Europe and America. The University consists of 58 faculties and has a student population of over 6,000 including foreign students from very different and diverse countries. Tuition is given in Russian, Ukrainian and English languages.

Odessa National Medical University for many years of its existence has proven the leadership in the quality of education among the similar educational institutions in Europe. During the period of study, the students become the real specialists and professionals in the sphere of medicine.
ONMedU has a strong material and technical base: 8 faculties, 58 departments, 12 educational buildings, 48 clinical bases, 2 own clinics, 3 own research institutes, and 13 specialized medical centers.

The University has a modern base for educational, scientific and medical diagnostic work that assists in the implementation of the educational process and is used in medical practice of the latest scientific achievements.
ONMedU provides the possibility to choose a preferable language: Russian or English. If you choose Russian you need to take the preparatory courses before the start of the training. The duration of courses is 1 year. During these courses, you study the main subjects: biology, chemistry, physics and the Russian language.

After that you will be able to choose the main direction of training in the Master’s program to obtain the degree of a doctor of medical sciences, which is equivalent to M.B.B.S. in India:

Modern Curriculum

The course is developed according to the modern curriculum taking into account the optimal load for students. Training takes place 5 days a week, Saturday and Sunday are day-offs. In average, the classes start at 8:00 and ends at 16:00 every day. The working week consists of 54 training hours, while 36 of them are the lectures and 18 hours are intended for practical classes. The training program will allow you to study the necessary material thoroughly and to achieve the success in your chosen profession.
Post Graduate courses
Short term Advanced Certificate Course – Duration of course is from 3 months up to 12 months. These courses are conducted in Russian and English medium in various specializations on specific topics / techniques.
Senior Residency – Duration of course is 3 years and is conducted in Russian and English medium.
PG courses in Dentistry (MDS) – Duration of course is 2-3 years and in conducted in Russian and English medium. University is conducting PG courses in English medium in following specializations of dentistry:

The priority task of the university at the present stage is to expand direct contacts with foreign countries based on mutual agreements, which is aimed at further integration into European and global health structures to learn best practices in medical education and scientific research development.
Since 1946 the faculty received training over 7,000 foreign citizens from 58 countries worldwide.Many graduates have become leading specialists, heads of medical institutions, regional services, educational institutions.
At present time at the university more than 1000 foreign students have the opportunity to use high-quality and modern information services, new student library, study books that are written by professors of the University and published in ONMedU.Continuing the tradition of educational work with foreign students in ONMedU operates a comprehensive approach to learning and international education fully developed personality, which aims to create a friendly atmosphere, good conditions for learning and a comprehensive and mutually enriching review of our countries, their history and culture.Medical degree were more than 7 thousand people.
The current educational work with foreign students has been repeatedly identified Diplomas Office for Youth Policy, Office of European Integration of Odessa City Council, diplomas Department on Nationalities and Religions of the Odessa Regional State Administration, as well as representatives of diplomatic corps in different countries.

Odessa National Medical University “ONMU”  is the largest Medical University of Ukraine and one of the Oldest Medical University of Eastern and Western Europe.  September 1, 1900 Medical Faculty was opened in Odessa under the Great Russian Imperial University “Novorossysk University”. In 1922 Medical Faculty of Novorosisk University in Odessa was reformed and was given the Status of Higher medical Institution and was renamed to “Odessa Medical Institute”. After independence of Ukraine 1993 Odessa medical Institute was given highest 4th level of Accreditation and was renamed to “Odessa State Medical University” and in 1997 got the National status and was renamed to “Odessa National Medical University”.
Odessa National Medical University “ONMU” was the first among medical universities in Ukraine who got the National Statusin Ukrainian Medical Universities. Odessa National Medical University is the most prestigious medical university in Russia, Ukraine and Europe to study Medicine, Dentistry, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Nursing, Postgraduate Education and Clinical residency program. The scientists of Odessa national Medical university paid great contribution to Ukrainian Medicine.

To get admission in Odessa National Medical University “ONMU” there are three steps:

STEP 1: HOW TO GET INVITATION LETTER
To get an invitation letter from Odessa National Medical University “ONMU”, we require the following documents:

STEP 2: VISA
After getting invitation letter from Odessa National Medical University “ONMU” students should contact to nearest Ukraine Embassy or Consulate. He/she should apply to Ukraine embassy with the following documents:

  1.  Original Invitation letter
  2. Original international passport (valid for one year)
  3. Higher Secondary School certificate (translated into Ukrainian language)
  4. Birth Certificate (translated into Ukrainian language)
  5. Medical Certificate showing absence of Aids/HIV (translated into Ukrainian language)
  6. Medical Certificate showing physical and mental fitness (translated into Ukrainian language)

STEP 3: ARRIVAL

  1. After getting visa from Ukraine embassy or Consulate, students should inform us about his/her flight details with date and arrival time.
  2. One of our representative shall receive the student at the airport.
  3. In case student will not inform us about his/her arrival, he/she shall be deported back to homeland.
  4. It is essential for all intending international students to obtain a student visa to come to Ukraine to study in Our University. The invitation / visa support letter from Odessa National Medical University provides of accommodation guaranty in University hostels also.
  5. All the students require study visa of Ukraine except the citizens of the following countries: Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Moldova.
  6. Applicants should check with the nearest UKRAINE EMBASSY OR CONSULATE for visa.

The invitation/ visa support letter will be issued by the International department of Odessa National Medical University of Ukraine.
